20 days since i last blogged.
i didnt even conclude rockmaster XI.
i missed rockmaster.
especially the atmosphere.
jinli and carene got 2nd and 3rd respectively for novice girls.
eugene and i got 1st and 3rd respectively for novice guys.
lenny got 2nd for intermediate guys and wan got 3rd for men's open.
i
could have gotten 2nd.
and i
could have gotten 100 bucks more.
but i didnt.
all because of the first route.
if only i flashed tht route, i can invest more on getting a new handphone.
now, i have to deal with 100 bucks less.
how pitiful.
took 3 tries.
turns out, i took only like under 10 secs to complete it by taking an easy but quite risky shortcut..
and tht was when the clock showed 20+ secs left.
i almost gave up after the 2nd try.
luckily i didnt or else i might not have gotten 3rd.
cough cough.
been having a lil throat irritation since yesterday.
yucks.
anywayz.
happy chinese new year to all!
and happy new year to all muslims!
in case u dont know, tomorrow is the 1st of muharram [1st muslim month] 1427 hijrah [muslim year].
should be visiting dale tmr.
no he's not sick.
visit him for cny at his humble abode.
been doing tht for 2 years alrd.
this' gonna be the 3rd.
a lil excited.
gonna be meeting hongyi, lucius, meisy and others as well.
i think.
been ages since i've last seen them.
i wanna go school asap too.
wednesday.
yay.
a climbing day.
been itching to climb as ive not done any since friday.
im getting fat.
a little fat.
my average weight is unstable.
can get as high as 60kg to as low as 56kg.
and if that's not enough, i ate one whole box of large meat lover juz now.
yeesh.
so much for weight control.
i just rememberd about the final exams.
coming in like 3 weeks' time.
yikes.
gotta buck up especially on my PEEE.
either by luck or by the minute amount of studying, i did surprisingly well for the MST.
scored a 73 for PEEE.
anyway, i cant gamble +-30% of my grades by doing the same thing this time.
boredom lies in the eyes of the boulderer who has nothing to do.
gahh.

yo.
before i forget abt the routes and stuff, i shall blog em down.
intermediate guys.
the first route had a sloper start.
shitty but nonetheless easy.
the second route rocks.
starting is a jug with two footholds at the sidewall perpendicular to the 45 degree wall.
the next tile is abt 2m away on the right side of the volume.
a jug.
one thing came straight on my mind.
dyno.
this route is quite technical apart from the dyno.
after the jug is a pincher and then a pocket.
right hand to the pincher, do a proper footwork and cross to the pocket.
again proper footwork and then to an undercling.
quite a sucky undercling but still okay.
the last tile is a juggy sloper.
this is where many slipped.
what i did was; left hand holding pocket, right hand undercling and stepping two footholds.
pulled a bit and went for the sloper with my left hand.
my left leg came off but sticked it back.
stepped up onto the previous two handholds and went for the ledge.
ive done most of the moves dozens of times before.
i hate the 3rd route.
coz its a flat wall route.
realised i never finished the flat wall routes for both novice and intermediate.
hahh.
eugene flashed it though.
the last route was cool.
even though i didnt finish it.
a mix of tension and balance.
the last part is a balance on the slab to the ending tile which is actually a foothold.
thts why its a balance.
i tried that route after school yesterday.
it was easy.
hahh.
anyways.
selamat hari raya aidiladha to all muslims out there.
peace out.

hahh.
dale and i kinda made a deal to do a quick entry, watch 'whose line' and slp at one.
hehh.
hahh
rushhhh...!
rockmaster XI.
novice and intermediate qualifying rounds.
yesterday [novice].
qualified sp guys.
eugene, aloy and i.
qualified sp gals.
jinli, carene, ayu and noni.
today [intermediate].
guys.
eugene and lenny.
gals.
jinli.
hahh.
carene and i got in the 9th position for the intermediate.
to qualify, we needed to be in the top 8 but we werent.
yet, we're happy.
why?
coz we dont wanna qualify since we want to concentrate on novice and not jeopardize our novice status.
now abt the routes.
the routes are on the tsunami, 45 degree, flat and 15 degree walls.
novice guys.
the first route was a piece of cake for me.
the 2nd route had me try 2 times to complete the route due to e crux which requires the climber to commit a horizontal dyno or a dynamic to a stretched position.
i chose in doing the dyno which i did not succeed at the first try.
but by securing the dyno on the second try and dynamically campus-ing the last two tiles at my disposal - a jug [i dyno-ed to] and a juggy pocket - to the ledge, i became the first to top the 2nd route.
only eugene and i completed this route.
the 3rd route was a balancing route.
no doubt coz it was on the flat wall.
the starting tile had me puzzled for abt 2 tries and abt 2minutes of my round.
i finally found an easy way to start and went for the next hold which is a jug.
the next hold is a slopy crimp tht stalled me for a few seconds to allow me to get a good grip.
the next tile is the bonus tile which is very slopy at the top and is best held by holding it with the right hand.
thn, the climber is supposed to balance his way through and finally stepping his left leg on the left sidewall.
from there, it just takes a step-up or two before the climber can finish on the ledge of the sidewall.
i didnt complete this route though.
the only two who completed this route were eugene and uzair.
on the last route, the starting tile was on the slab and the ending tile was on the 15 degree wall.
the crux of this route was the cross from the bonus tile - a slightly slopy pinch - on the 15 degree wall to a small but nice crimp.
thn, all i had to do was drop my right knee and reached for the ending tile which was a small horn.
overall.
i flashed 2 routes and topped 1.
flashed routes 1 & 4.
topped route 2 with 2 attempts.
and i wasted 3 or 4 attempts on route 3.
thts for the novice.
stay tuned for the intermediate highlights or something.
cya.
